Summer of Sustainability

Key Project Partners: CEE, Sustainability Victoria, Big Day Out, Laneway Festival, Golden Plains

The Summer of Sustainability project was an action learning partnership between CEE, government (Sustainability Victoria), non-profit organisations and some of Australia’s leading music festivals (including Falls Festival, The Big Day Out, St Jerome’s Laneway and Golden Plains). In the Australian Summer of 2008 and 2009, CEE & Sustainability Victoria went out to 5 Victorian music festivals and asked ‘what do you think about sustainability? What are you already doing? And how do you think you could do it better?’

CEE worked closely with these major festivals to undertake energy, water & waste assessments and develop sustainability management plans to help them reduce resource consumption.

CEE also produced a series of short informative & entertaining videos about implementing sustainability at events as part of the Summer of Sustainability project. Check them out: you never know, you might see yourself enjoying the Australian summer festival season in one of the episodes!
